Fishing S. Br. Oconto July 2017

A 8 inch Brook Trout

On July 11th, Wayne Czypinski, Doug Erdmann and Mike Renish convened at Wayne’s house on the South Branch of the Oconto to fish several sections upstream from his house.

The stretch of stream traverses several private land owners as well as public Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) land.

The water was relatively high due to all the rain we’ve received this year thus far.  In fact, Big Dougie, as we affectionately call him at 6′ 2″ and always with a smile, had to punch out in many places so as to not fill up his waders with 63 degree south branch water.

Wayne, on his home court, led the way with landing several fish including an 18 inch brown trout.  His fly of choice was certainly a Pass Lake streamer.

Doug came in 2nd on the board with several small Browns and Brooks.

Mike felt like a novice and only managed several strikes but landed ZERO fish.

All and all, it was a great day to live in Wisconsin.  You could not have asked for a better day of fishing with beautiful water and great fellowship.

Carpe Diem – Mike
